Managing Editor (Los Angeles)

The Managing Editor combines the innovativeness of a writer with the practical focus of an operations manager. You will report to the CEO and the Chief Creative Officer and supervise writers, designers and other staff. You will partner with the Content and Licensing teams to physically plan and produce our expanded portfolio and own the ways we will scale the production of Content across different platforms to meet the needs of the business.

What qualifies you

  • 6-10 years of experience as a managing editor or a relevant role across fields such as Publishing, Journalism, Podcasting, Entertainment, or Advertising
  • Proven ability to organize and produce a large scale production from start to finish
  • Ability to turn ideas into well structured projects, with clear deadlines, assignments, dependencies etc. (Knowledge of Asana or similar project management software is a plus)
  • Proven leadership skills: you have assembled and managed editorial teams to create high profile publications, videos, podcasts or other creative productions
  • Editing/Proof reading/Fact checking experience is a plus
  • Tireless work ethic - you are willing to do whatever it takes to make sure things run smoothly and to achieve the best possible result
  • A burning passion for female empowerment
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Experience in a startup environment is a big plus
  • Knowledge of other languages (Italian and Spanish in particular is a big plus)
  • Proficiency in InDesign
  • Proficiency in Google Docs, Acrobat Pro

What you'll do
  • Plan and manage all daily operations
  • Turn ideas into well structured Asana projects with clear deadlines, task assignments and dependencies
  • Efficiently manage and run the teams creating content for the Rebel Girls universe (this will include books, podcasts, ebooks and others)
  • Communicate with talent and with external studios to schedule taping sessions of the podcast, vetting the studio quality and collecting specs from the sound designer
  • Hire and manage freelancers in the editorial department
  • Oversee proofreading and copyediting procedures and edit copy when necessary
  • Juggle multiple projects, getting into the weeds to problem solve, and never miss a deadline
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure quality and brand consistency of the content published in all forms
  • Contribute with ideas, proposals and research to the development of a pipeline of productions across several media to expand the Rebel Girls universe

Full Stack E-Commerce Engineer (remote)

Develop and manage a comprehensive online shop strategy, including direct sales, wholesales, promotions, content creation/management, design development and implementation. Liaise with internal teams and external partners to create measurable impact in the ROI of our global web stores through data driven experimentation.

What qualifies you

  • 3-5 years of experience with Shopify Plus (you have created multiple beautiful and perfectly functional e-commerce websites)
  • Experience with Hubspot is a plus
  • Strong Front End Development Skills (HTML, CSS, ES6)
  • You have researched and implemented all sorts of third party integrations on several e-commerce websites
  • You have created/managed e-commerce websites with more than 50 SKU’s and more than $5M/year in transactions
  • You have great communication skills and have successfully worked with cross-functional teams

What you'll do
  • Code! You will be the in house full stack developer for our Shopify Plus stores
  • Collaborate closely with our designers to build a stunning, mobile friendly, responsive, e-commerce website
  • Collaborate with our operations team to ensure seamless functionality of the website and flawless integrations with fulfillment, wholesale and accounting needs for our domestic and international stores
  • Research e-commerce technology best practices and collaborate with E-Commerce Director to increase the profitability of our stores
  • Oversee day-to-day management of the website, including but not limited to troubleshooting any errors, responsive redesigns, enhancements and edits
  • Assist E-Commerce Director in implementation of a/b tests
  • Execute bi-weekly sprints to increase conversion rate and site performance

Director of Social Media (Los Angeles)

The Director of Social Media will be responsible for the growth of the size and engagement of our community, with the goal to skyrocket the brand awareness of Rebel Girls and to boost the inbound traffic to our ecommerce website.

What qualifies you
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Social Media Director for a consumer brand, a publisher or a media brand with an online community of at least 1,000,000 people
  • Proven experience in assembling and managing a team of designers/artists to create high quality content for social media
  • Expertise programming across all social platforms (including, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, Instagram Stories, and Snapchat Stories)
  • Proven ability to collect, analyze, and present data with the goal of constantly adjusting programming strategy based on feedback from the audience
  • A deep knowledge of the online feminist community
  • Excellent writing skills and ability to write effectively for social media
What you'll do
    1. Editorial
      • Develop a social media budget and a masterplan with clear, measurable goals and deadlines in line with the company’s priorities
      • Ideate and implement an editorial plan and a calendar in close collaboration with the Chief Creative Officer and the E-Commerce & Marketing Director
      • Assemble and lead team of freelancers, in house designers and interns to develop a compelling programming across social media
      • Develop an accurate analysis of our existing community and a data driven approach to programming on all social media
      • Work with Design Director to strengthen visual consistency across all social media channels
      • Liaise with PR team to give the maximum relevance to company announcements, events/activities, and new product launches
      • Send weekly reports to help stakeholders monitor audience growth, audience profile, audience engagement, content reach, traffic, response rate and quality and any negative feedback
      • Adjust editorial plan based on feedback in a loop of constant improvement
      • Build a cross-channel brand ambassador network
      • Analyse and report about untapped opportunities on platforms where our brand is not present yet, or minimally present
      • Monitor trends in social media and report back to CEO any patterns or data we could use to develop new products

      1. Facebook

      • Grow the audience of our Facebook page from 500,000 to 1,000,000 within the end of 2018
      • Identify how to serve our community best through the FB group associated with our page
      • Coordinate with Marketing team to boost the organic traffic from Facebook to our website
      • Assemble team of freelancers to repackage existing content and create cost-effective original content to boost engagement and virality of our brand
      • Constantly experiment original ways to promote our products and brand

      1. Instagram

      • Grow the audience of our Instagram account from 65,000 to 300,000 by the end of 2018
      • Implement a highly creative, inspiring, cost-effective and consistent programming for our Instagram Stories
      • Create and maintain a regular publishing schedule
      • Liaise with influencers to expand our brand awareness

    Social Media Manager (Los Angeles)

    The Social Media Editor will report to the Director of Social Media and will own Rebel Girls’ presence across several social media by posting content, writing and editing captions, responding to comments and messages, coordinating the interns and constantly monitoring trends and opportunities to raise awareness around our brand and our products.

    What qualifies you

    • 3-4 years experience working as a social media editor for a publisher or a brand, with a community of minimum 100,000 people
    • Experience working with brand partners, influencers, and other revenue-driven relationships
    • Expertise programming across all social platforms (including, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, Instagram Stories, and Snapchat Stories)
    • Expertise working with online software to schedule posts across several social media (Later, Hootsuite, etc…)
    • A strong interest in social media trends: you read regularly specialized blogs and use this info as a constant source of inspiration for the work you do on social media
    • An understanding of why one piece of content cannot look the same on every platform, and how to optimize accordingly
    • Flawless command of spelling and grammar
    • Proven ability to handle a high-volume workload and meet deadlines without fail
    • A strong sense of story: you have produced Insta Stories or documented live events to create compelling pieces of content for an audience

    What you'll do:

    • Write, edit, and optimize social posts across platforms for Rebel Girls branded content
    • Co-manage multiple social calendars for branded content
    • Work with paid distribution team to ensure client KPI’s are met
    • Liaise with stakeholders, communicate feedback clearly and troubleshoot any issues as needed
    • Regularly update your team on social best practices
    • Assist with evening and occasional weekend editorial programming across platforms
    • Produce social-first branded campaigns on Instagram Live and Stories, Snapchat Stories
    • Execute in-person talent opportunities, both editorial and branded, along the west coast (may include some travel)
    • Pivot strategy as company priorities and platform landscape change
    • Respond to comments and messages in a timely manner and collaborate with Customer Service team if needed to delight customers every time they contact us
    • Identify the most engaged brand ambassadors within our community and implement a brand ambassador program with the guidance of Social Media Director
    • Monitor social media trends daily and make sure our brand shapes meaningful online conversations and presents itself in a consistent and creative way across all channels
    • Execute social media portion of flash sales and other marketing initiatives promotions
